Create an Oval in SketchUp

SketchUp will create squares, rectangles, and circles, but making ovals is a little more involved. Read this article to learn how.

Edit Steps

  1. 1
    A basic circle
    A basic circle
    Click on the circle icon and create a circle.

    If you aren't already looking straight down on it, do it.
  3. 3
    Circle ready to scale
    Circle ready to scale
    Select the circle and then press S (Scale).
  4. 4
    Click on whichever side that you want to extend to an oval.
    Click on whichever side that you want to extend to an oval.
    Click on whichever side that you want to extend to an oval.
  5. 5
    Pull to the side until you have your desired shape.
