Welcome to Meta-Wiki, the global community site for the Wikimedia Foundation's projects and related projects. Meta-Wiki's discussions range from coordination and documentation to planning and analysis of future Wikimedia activities. Other meta-focused wikis such as Wikimedia Outreach and Wikimedia Strategy are specialized projects that have their roots in Meta-Wiki. Related discussion also takes place on Wikimedia mailing lists (particularly wikimedia-l, with its low-traffic equivalent WikimediaAnnounce), IRC channels on Freenode, individual wikis of local Wikimedia chapters, and other places.

26-June 6:

Round 1 of the Sixth Annual Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year Competition (to select the best featured picture of 2011) starts. Round 2 will start immediately after Round 1 has finished and votes are counted.

30-April 1:

Wikimedia Conference 2012 is held in Berlin, Germany.

	8–27:	The vote on the Stewards elections 2012.
	24:	Input is requested to help evaluate Wikimedia Community Fellowship project ideas.

	15–28:	Candidate submissions for Stewards elections 2012.
	18:	The English Wikipedia was blacked out for 24 hours in protest of SOPA and PIPA. Several other projects ran banners in support.
	28:	Translation tools workshop: Siebrand will train Meta Wiki users in using the translation tools recently installed here.
	15:	Wikipedia Day is celebrated at select events around the world this month.
	12:	Members of the Wikimania 2013 jury announced.

Wikimedia Foundation, Meta-Wiki, and its sister projects

The Wikimedia Foundation is the overarching non-profit foundation that owns the Wikimedia servers along with the domain names, logos and trademarks of all Wikimedia projects and MediaWiki. Meta-Wiki is the coordination wiki for the various Wikimedia wikis.
