It’s good to get away from your same ol’ environment more often than you think you should.Kinda like Arnold’s early days when he and a training partner would haul 250 lbs and a barbell to the woods, perform 50 sets of squats until they couldn’t stand let alone walk. Away from the gym, the distractions of rules, the perfect set – rep combo, the water fountain and of course, “normal people”.

Yesterday I took a ride up into the quiet northern NJ hills to train The Blair Academy Wrestling Team. I love heading up there, even though it’s just shy of a 2 hr drive for me each way, I get fired up days before I even make the trip. The wrestlers are beyond highly motivated and the Coaches have always been open minded to learning, NO drama. That is refreshing and MORE Coaches could help their athletes to much greater heights if they dropped their ego and opened up their mind to learning.

As I always say, The Kids are # 1, NOT your ego.

It’s QUIET up in the hills of Blairstown.

When I pull into Blairstown I can sense that it’s time to for us to do WORK. I put the windows down as I drive through the quiet back roads so I can smell it in the air. And trust me, I DO smell “it” in the air. The cool fall air always gives a hint of wrestling season around the corner. That means intense, aggressive workouts.

There is a BIG problem with people today, of ALL ages.

It’s NOT everyone, but damn, this BS is running rampant.

If everyone would apply themselves to the 20 X factor described in yesterday’s blog, we would ALL be so freaking successful it isn’t even funny.

If you haven’t read / watched that blog post, do it NOW (click here) and leave some feedback in the comments section.

The BIG reason I shared the 20 X video is because I see it as a Coach, a business owner and through hearing people talk.

There is a HUGE disconnect with meeting the status quo and simply doing what is expected of you VS going above and beyond to achieve BIG success.

The 20 X factor is what can create champions in ANY area, be it sports, life, school, your place of work, etc.

The Navy SEAL in that video, Mark Divine, is ONE of the people I have invested in to receive coaching from. It’s been an integral part of my recent evolution and growth as a person on ALL fronts. I’m a BIG believer in getting Coaching from those who have blazed the path ahead of me.

I would type more but what I have to say isn’t much compared to what is said in this video.I’ll be brief.

You need to watch this video to fully understand the mindset I am training to develop as I want YOU to develop as well. I put myself on the line to learn more, grow into a better person, largely in part to pass on my knowledge to you. Yes, YOU. My priorities are my family, the people I love and YOU.

About the 20 X Factor. It’s a critical mindset for succeeding in LIFE – forget about sports, business, getting ripped abs, etc. This lesson goes FAR Deeper…..

My buddies and I have our SEALFit Challenge in T-10 days. We know the start time, but we do NOT know the end time. The times have changed multiple times and can easily mess with your head as it’s tough to train for the unknown, but that is THE challenge behind it.

The ONLY way to enter our challenge, as well as ANY challenge you’re about to face, is to prepare yourself mentally AND physically through intense, brutal training that not only develops the body but also develops the mind.

This is why I explain our Underground Workouts as a blend of science & hell.

Unless you push yourself through boundaries, you will NOT arrive at your challenges with the confidence and the belief that you Can and WILL succeed. I see it in the athletes we train. Those who do EXTRA work beyond what we have them do are the athletes who arrive at competition time with the confidence KNOWING they will win.

Watch this Video to see what Navy SEAL, Mark Divine says about The 20 X Factor…..

Guest Post by Coach Joe Meglio aka Coach Megz

If there is one thing I really love talking about, it’s the deadlift. Maybe I am a little biased because it is my favorite and best lift, but regardless, it’s the lift I know best. While I am not the best deadlifter in the world, I have put up some decent numbers. At the age of 20 and a bodyweight of 196.5 lbs I pulled 600.

Some people jump up the ladder of success while others climb, slowly and sometimes painfully. Little by little, brick by brick, they get there.

I used to be a VERY slow learner in ALL things success related. I got used to taking bumps and bruises before achieving success so I thought this was the way it should ALWAYS be. I was wrong & things have changed. I have a much stronger mindset, a more positive mindset and much thicker skin, all of which allows me to use speed while achieving success.

If you are slow to climb the ladder of success, do NOT get used to taking the slow road too often. Sure, here and again, it will be a grind, but, my advice to you: Find ways to get there faster, and of course, do so ethically. I’ll tell you how in just a minute.

If you’re an athlete, an entrepreneur, or perhaps you are climbing the ladder of success within a company you work for, find a way to get the edge mentally and physically to move quickly up the ladder of success.

Here are some of the things I do to speed my success rate and you can use these just as well:

Arnold was the FIRST mentor I had as a young teen. I was a lost soul who only wanted to become a bodybuilder and all I could think about what working out & being at the gym. Every book I opened up had a FLEX magazine crammed inside of it.

I read his book, The Education of a Bodybuilder, for 3 years straight beginning my sophomore year in high school. Arnold was the FIRST person that hammered home the fact that the mind controls EVERYTHING – those lessons about the power of the mind learned some 20 + years ago inspired me to write my first ever article, for Arnold, HERE.

After you read my article, check out 2 powerful (and my favorite) videos from Arnold where he describes MORE in detail, about what it takes to create success.

You’ll quickly notice, it’s NOT groundbreaking information, it is simply a matter of DOING the gut busting work necessary that others are all too often NOT willing to do.

Check these videos out…. they CAN change your life IF you are willing to RUN with the information and put it to Use.

This Blog Post is gonna be quite intense. I’m suggesting you commit to this entire post, all the videos, reading every word. I’m going to give you my own, personal experiences & teaching, share with you words of wisdom from Navy SEAL, Marcus Luttrell via video & a quick excerpt from his latest book, Service.

Let’s get after it.

Have you ever made an excuse for yourself?

Have you ever heard the excuses others make?

Excuses create losers. Plain and simple. Excuses give you or others a “green light” to quit, give up & fail.

Above, my high school wrestling coach, Coach Pagach, getting inducted into The National Wrestling Hall of Fame

Yesterday was a very cool day.

I attended The NJ Wrestling Hall of Fame to see my high school wrestling coach get inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. It was GREAT to see my Coach again. The last time I saw Coach Pagach I was 22 years old and was in my 3rd month of teaching, the start of my teaching career.

At age 22, at that time, I had MANY mixed emotions with wrestling and the intense emotional times I had gone through as a wrestler. I was STILL angry with myself for not achieving my goals, for not realizing my potential and now that I understand life a bit better, I was empty in spirit as I had NOT continued my Vision Quest.

I was pissed, to be honest. I committed 4 years of my life towards wrestling. I was a LATE starter, starting wrestling as a freshman in high school. I was pissed that I didn’t mature or develop as a wrestler. Rather than being pissed, I am DOING something about it.

Well, here I am….. 20 something years LATE, and now, on a VISION QUEST. Hey, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!

Trust me, I have LOTS of people questioning me, ‘What the HELL are you doing? You’re 36?!”

Only a small few understand what I’m going through right now.

What is a Vision Quest? See this video and then below the video, for a deep er explanation:
