How to Hook Up a DVD Player

Every DVD player has a slightly different way to be set up. Below are some standard steps to take, but please see the documentation that came with your DVD player for more details.
Edit Steps
- 1Remove the DVD Player from its box and place it where you want.
- 2Hook the DVD player to the TV using the cable that came with the DVD player. New HDMI DVDs will have an HDMI cable (squarish end), while other models will have either a SCART-cable (rectangular), a composite cable with three connections at each end (yellow, white and red) or an audio-video cable with two connections (yellow and white). Match up the cables to the outlets on the back of the television.
- Older Upgrade Your Old TV's may only have a coaxial cable input. If this is the case you might want to consider purchasing an RF Modulator.
- 3Plug the DVD player's power cable into an outlet.
- 4Power on your TV.
- 5Power on the DVD player.
- 6Set your TV on "AUX" (or what setting the input spot is labelled). You should see your DVD welcome screen.
Edit Tips
- The DVD player will most likely come with a "Quick Start Guide", which will provide basic instructions on how to set up the DVD player and start using it.
- For better quality picture, do not use coaxial cable. Use the stereo A/V cables.
