How to Be Productive at Work During a Slow Week
Edited by Anna Orlando, Jaysmomma, Teresa, Tamanna and 2 others
Don’t watch the time tick away! Turn a slow week into a productive one that will earn you a gold star with the higher ups! Take advantage of downtime at work by following these tips.
Edit Steps
- 1Clean your desk. Now is a great time to throw away or organize all the papers cluttering your desk. You might find something important that needs your attention, but was thrown by the wayside when you were really busy.
- 2Sort through your e-mails and voice mails. They can both pile up quickly. Organize your e-mails into folders that can be easily referenced and delete old voice mails.
- 3Schedule meetings. Now is a great time to catch up with vendors, agencies or anyone you may do business with outside of your own office.
- 4Ask your boss if you can shadow a co-worker a level above you for a morning or even an entire day. Tell your boss you think this would be a great learning experience!
- 5Organize your department’s files. Are all the files located in a central area? If not, make a central location to house all the files so they can easily be accessed. If they already are in a central location volunteer to weed out the older files to make room for future ones.
Edit Tips
- Don’t take an extra long lunch hoping no one will notice.
- Complaining about being bored to your co-workers is not a good use of time.
