Eat Less Refined or Simple Sugars

Simple sugars give you a quick sugar rush, but afterwards you will have less energy and feel sluggish. Refined sugars may also speed up the aging process.

Edit Steps

  1. 1
Read the labels. It will say how many grams of sugar it has.

  2. 2
Bear in mind that some things, like pineapples, do not need added sugar to have an excess level of sugar.

  3. 3
Look at the ingredients. Added sugars will usually end with -ose, such as sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose and dextrose. If it rhymes with Gross, It's bad for you.

  4. 4
Never eat anything that has a sugar as the first thing on the ingredients list. This means there is more sugar than any other ingredient.

Edit Tips

  • They have not determined a "daily value" for sugars; and ideally, you might be supposed to consume no sugar each day, but just try to exercise moderation.

Edit Warnings

  • It is not healthy to replace simple sugars with bad fats or artificial sweeteners.
