How to Survive the Holidays when You Have Annoying Relatives
Edited by TheDuchess, Teresa, Maluniu, Dave Crosby and 4 others
The holidays are a time for good food, fun times... and sometimes, annoying relatives. Don't waste your precious vacation time cornered by your nosy Aunt Bertha or your hyperactive nephew.
Edit Steps
- 1You probably already have a list in your head of which family members cause you the most stress during the holidays, so pinpoint exactly what they do that bothers you.
- 2Make a plan of action. What are you going to do when they start in on you-
- What can you do to neutralize the situation? For example, if you have an Aunt that is constantly poking prying questions at you, what can you say to get her to buzz off?
- 3Communicate with the relative. Tell the person that you are uncomfortable( "I don't really feel comfortable talking about that, Aunt Bertha."
- 4Pawn them off on someone else! " Oh, Aunt Bertha, Cousin Tom said he was just dying to talk to you! Why don't you see if you can find him?"
- 5Realize that the holidays should be enjoyable, there's no reason you should have to suffer through them.
Edit Tips
- Who says you have to spend the holidays with annoying relatives? There's nothing wrong with making other plans.
