Make a Time Capsule (for Kids and Pre Teens)

Do you want people to know about you in the year 2160? Do you want to remember your current self when you are older?

Now you can! The following instructions will tell you how to make a time capsule and surprise yourself or other people in the future!

    Get a box that can fit all your items. If you plan on burying your box, make sure it's durable and can last a long time outdoors.

    With your box (it should be big) find a spot to bury the capsule.

    Decorate the box if you are hiding it.

    Put your name and date you buried/hide it on the box.

    Write a letter to the finder of the time capsule or to yourself.

    Now get a few items that really reflect who you are. Examples include

    Bury or hide the time capsule,make sure you have permission from your parents.

    Now try to forget about the box.

    Now wait for someone to discover it or you can open it up in 1-10 years.

  • Write a diary or journal about your daily life!
  • Make clues so people can find the time capsule.
  • Get friends and family to hep you make the time capsule.
  • Use a glass bottle, for example a wine bottle in order to make it last.

Edit Warnings

  • Do not put too much money in the capsule as it may be stripped off if you find it.
  • Don't put anything precious or anything you really like in the time capsule as you might not get it back.
  • Also do not put edible items as the item may look nasty when you open it in the future or there might be vermin in the capsule.
