    Greet them in the hall. Be very cheerful! Something pittiful like "Hi," will not get you noticed. Instead, try something like "Hi,!" and wave your hand or look energetic.

    Pretend like you're already friends. Start conversations as if you grew up together! Walk beside that special person and start a conversation along the lines of "So (name of person), I hear you have been ______ recently. How's that going for you? You know one time I was_______..." etc.

    Make sure they get a say in the conversation. Take turns in commenting and asking questions. The best type of question to ask: are ones that can't be answered with "yes" or "no". Instead of using questions such as "How was your weekend?", use "How did you spend your weekend?" This way the person has to give you an answer instead of "fine".

    Use what you have! If they start a conversation about a movie they went to see, talk about how you have/haven't/want to see that movie, and perhaps throw in a joke about something on the topic.

    Have mutual friends. If you have friends who are good friends with the person you want to befriend, it will benefit you in becoming friends with them.

    Be yourself. By being yourself! He or she won't go away, because she'll or he'll know that you're true to him or her

    Try to hang out a lot. Hanging out, tells him/her that you're really close to each other now, and maybe you know you two have now become one.

  • Don't ask for their number the moment you become friends.
  • Don't talk too much to the person you wish to befriend, as you may come across as being annoying or needy.
  • Try hinting that you are friends with them by saying "Hi Buddy" etc.
