Are you a fan of typing comments, but have a question on one or more areas of the video itself? It might be helpful to comment on them in the comments box area to everyone who views it and the video-maker themselves. This article will show you how to enter this time into the comment box.

    Visit the YouTube homepage.

    Login to Youtube, with your Google or YouTube account. You must be logged in to an account, to comment no matter on what video you'll be viewing.

    Locate the video on YouTube you'd like to comment with a time on.

    Locate the time area of the video itself. It can be found at the bottom left-hand side of the video (just to the right of the play/pause button).

    Play the video up until the moment you'd like to type a time into the comment box. Playing the video tends to refresh your memory to find the EXACT time to type later.

    Click the play/pause button to pause the video temporarily.

    Scroll down to the comment box.

    Type the remainder of your comment and type a space.

    Type the time that is displayed (exactly how you see it) on the left hand side of the two-times area. The second time that is displayed (right hand side of the two) is the total running length of the video.
    • If the position that you need to comment on is located at 50 minutes and 20 seconds, you'll need to type this time as 50:20 into the comment box.

    Type a space and your comment, or, if you want to give the uploader or commenter with the finishing portion, type a space, a hyphen, a space, and the second location's time in the time format as described above.

Edit Tips

  • If you have several areas in the video you'd like to comment on, take a scrap piece of paper and jot some notes down on these areas of the video.
  • The links your browser will produce in the comment (once the page has been updated) will become clickable to get the person right to the spot you mentioned. For those that look closely at the comment, if it has an ending value, the person will have to watch closely until the time expires, as the video will keep playing through this "ending time".
