How to Turn Off the Pop‐Up Blocker in Internet Explorer

Sometimes you need to turn off your pop-up blocker for a certain window to open up in Internet Explorer. By following a few simple steps in your Tools folder, you'll be ale to make that pop-up blocker shut off. See step 1 to get started getting those pop-ups back.

1Open your Internet Explorer browser.Ad

2Click the Gears button from the top right corner of the screen.

3Click the "Internet Options" button.

4Click the "Privacy" tab.

5Locate the line option that says "Turn on Pop-Up Blocker".

6Look at the button to this option. If there is a checkmark (which there should be), continue to next step.

7Click the box with the checkmark in it, to the left of the button labeled "Turn on Pop-Up Blocker" to remove the checkmark.

8Click the "Apply" button in the bottom of the Internet Options screen.

9Click the "OK" button to save your work and, essentially, turn off your Internet Explorer Pop-Up Blocker.Ad

- If you don't know what this article meant by the "Gears" button or you're not running Internet Explorer 8 or 9, you can press and release the Alt key on your keyboard and click "Tools" then click "Internet Options" instead. It'll achieve the same task setup.
- Each version of Internet Explorer has it's own special wording for turning off the Pop-up Blocker. The wording above is for Internet Explorer 9. However, no matter what browser you have (from Internet Explorer 7 and up), the tab for turning it on and off is the same.
