Decide what sort of small town you want to live in. Do you want to live in suburbia? Do you want to live in a industrialised town or a town in the middle of the countryside? What, for you, is a small town - one shop, ten shops or fifty shops and a multistory car park? Location also in proximity to motorways, train stations and other cities and towns are important.Ad

If you are moving a family, assess local schools. This is imperative. Some small towns have some of the best state education England has to offer. Equally, look at the job opportunities there if you need to find a new career.
-
Budget. How much can you afford to spend on a place to live?

When deciding on your town, personal recommendations are invaluable. Ask around. Ask your friends that you're seeking a lifestyle change and you want to move to a small town. They could have grown up in a small town, or holidayed in one that could be perfect.
