I do not accept people being LGBT; I believe that it is wrong. I do not hate them though, and this was a helpful page because I know a Guy, 13 years old, who is gay. We had just started to become friends, and so he decided to tell me that he was gay. He and I are still friends, but it was as serious shocker. We had some long talks, and I am really glad to know him. He is very mature, intelligent, and we get along really well.

I say: Hate the sin, but NOT (let me repeat: NOT!!!) the person!!!!!!!

Step 1: Be okay with [insert sexual orientation here]. Step 2: Hug, then live your lives.

I would carry that a step further, especially since i claim the knowledge of years here, and this is SO a problem of youth (that should be your first clue):
Step 1: Keep me, as a friend, completely in the dark about your sexual orientation, whatever it may be. As a matter of fact, don't explain anything, as a rule, and instead consider this, about 'explanations';"Your friends don't need them, and your enemies don't care".
Step 2: Hug, then live your lives.

Now, I wouldn't expect you to lie, if someone were so rude as to ask you about your "sexual orientation" in public; but I hope my immediate reaction would be, "Whoa!"
I find this article SO full of crap, that I will be shredding it over the next several days, along with my 'gay' girlfriend (I'm a guy).

i suggest that you all supplied the venue, and so now you owe the 13 YEAR OLD, above, an explanation; and know that their parents are watching you.

This is a very good article but I think Point 6 should be removed. It's misleading and implies that a person's sexual orientation can change, and that so called "treatment" can actually work. It could be replaced with an explanation that people don't choose their orientation, and that they cannot change.

...or it could be replaced with the truth, which sounds nothing like that? "they cannot change" is ridiculous on it's face; youth is for trying things out, and the vast majority of us are going to be very different at 40 than we are now, in every single 'orientation' that they currently identify with (the rest of 'us' ARE DEAD).

don't know about any 'treatment', but your orientation is either a choice, or you are a slave. Why did I require this 'explanation', as your close friend, again? peace

I hate non bisexuality but not non bisexuals, non bisexuals arehumans to and this article is to heteronormative whereas it should be for accepting anyone of a different sexual orientation such as my friend who just came out as straight, non bisexuality isn't sinful just pathological

The title ? If they are a close friend, most likely you would already know of their orientation, so what is there not to accept ? You are their close friend, hence you accept them ???

I hated this article with a passion 6 months ago, for much the same reason; I still find it a statement masquerading as an article, but wouldn't NFD it...not sure what's changed, lol; the NVC sinking in, maybe.
