CodeProject Article Types

CodeProject has a number of different article types. To make your live easier and to help you decide what type of article to submit, all available types are listed and described below.

Article

Sharing code with others is a great way to not only help others, but also to become a better programmer. With many thousands of people downloading your code you will not only get a lot of positive feedback, but also bug fixes, free testing, and more often than not, suggestions on how to make the code even better. It also encourages others to share their code, which in turn gives you access to an even larger base of free source code.

Technical Blog

As developers we blog, so we want to ensure as we have as many readers as possible reading your blog. Nothing hurts us more than seeing great technical content lost in the wilderness, so by submitting your blog's RSS feed to us we'll regularly aggregate your technical blogs and publish them on our site. Get feedback, ratings, the adoration of millions and a ton of rep.

Tip/Trick

A tip has the same layout as a regular article but is meant primarily to provide a quick coding solution or tip. Tips and Tricks are not as exhaustive or extensive, nor do they require as much detail as an article to explain a problem and its solution. Articles may be several pages long, but a tip might be only a couple of paragraphs. Tips simply state a problem and a solution.

Reference

A Reference article is a short (typically 1 page) article used to lookup common information such as tables (eg. ASCII tables, HTTP codes etc) or function or class explanations. Typically there will be few if any images, and no downloadable code (though both are possible if the author wishes)
