Leche flan is a beautiful dessert. Popular in the Philippines, it's a dessert used for all sorts of celebratory occasions.[1] Once you've made it the first time, you'll discover it's easy to make again. It is delicious when served with cream or honey. Leche Flan can also be served in a ramekin or tipped out onto a plate.
EditIngredients

- 7 eggs
- 400g/14.1 oz condensed milk (better if canned)
- 380g/13.4 oz evaporated milk

EditPart 1 of 4: Preparing the Caramelized Sugar
-
1Melt the sugar in the saucepan to make caramel. Use a low to medium heat to melt the sugar in a heavy-based saucepan; this will take about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir frequently and do not leave unattended. When the sugar has melted, quickly tip it into a casserole dish or divide evenly into individual ramekins. Let it stand for at least 10 minutes to set before adding the ingredients from the next section.
- You will likely need to tilt the dish or ramekins to coat them evenly with the melted sugar.

-
1Place the dish/ramekins in a larger baking pan. Pour hot water into a larger pan to a depth of 1 inch/2.5cm. Place the dish or ramekins into the water-holding pan. Place the pan in the oven. Bake at 180ºC/350ºF for one hour.
- While cooking, the water should not start to boil. To prevent this from happening, you can add some more cold water should the water start to boil.
