    Go to add and remove programs. In Windows XP its Control Panel / Add And Remove Programs. In Windows Vista - Windows 8.1, Its Control Panel/ Programs / Uninstall A Program

    Look At The Publisher. See who made the software, if it's made by Intel, Microsoft, nVIDIA etc. It probably isn't safe to uninstall.

    See if it is a driver. Drivers are software components that make your device work with its hardware components. For example, the screen and keyboard. If drivers are uninstalled, it could make the hardware components useless.

    Use Google. If you are still unsure what is safe to uninstall, use Google, It will come up with lots of results that will tell you. Make sure the information is trusted when using this method
