My lock was 9179xx and it this didn't work. I then found the slip of paper with the correct combination so now I KNOW the answer and this method doesn't match. It is close though. I got the 12 spots, I crossed off the 7 and was down to 5 and only one of them had a last digit different than the others. The final combination did use the "Magic number" approach (the first number = remainder of last number divided by 4 + either 0,4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,36) and the second number is any of the first numbers offset by 2). The last number was one of the 5 numbers I had found, but not the one with the different last digit. In fact, it was the number greater than the one with the different last digit. Maybe that is another option for those with large S/Ns were this approach didn't work. Another 320 possible combinations to try.

When I cited a source, I pressed publish and it said something like, "The article could not be published because we detected a spam filter." I worked so hard on that article and all my work was lost. That's why I don't cite my sources. Not to say citing your sources is bad, or anything like that.
What if the book was written by a company? With no author?
