So it's time for breakfast, but you're not sure what to make? Try making breakfast in a biscuit! This is a biscuit full of sausage, cheese, and egg. The best part? It is simple and easy to make!
This recipe makes 4 individual breakfast biscuits.
EditIngredients
- 1/2 package of refrigerator biscuits
- 2 "Brown and Serve" sausage links
- 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, well beaten
- Cooking spray, such as PAM
EditSteps
-
1Cut the sausage into chunks using a sharp knife, and place the chunks onto a plate.Ad
-
2Preheat the oven to 400ºF/204ºC.
-
3On a lightly floured board, roll out each round of biscuit dough into 4 inch (10cm) flat circles.
-
4Take the circles of dough, and put them in the muffin tin. Look at the picture to guide you. Basically, place the dough in each hole of the muffin tin, and leave it open so that you can put the remaining ingredients into each dough circle.
- Spray cooking oil spray on the muffin tin before you start adding the biscuit rounds.
-
5Place two pieces of sausage in the middle of each biscuit round.
-
6Sprinkle the cheese into each biscuit round.
-
7Spoon two teaspoons of egg (from the egg that you've already beaten well) into the center of each biscuit .
-
8Pinch the dough edges together to seal the biscuits closed. This is an important step because if you don't seal them well, the ingredients might force their way out of the biscuit and the end result won't be as good.
-
9Put the biscuits in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until biscuits are browned. Keep an eye on them periodically.
-
10Serve during breakfast, with some breakfast beverage, such as orange juice. Enjoy your biscuits!Ad

This video shows you how to make buttermilk breakfast biscuits; the dough recipe may be useful for you if you'd rather make your own from scratch than use a pre-made type. |
EditTips
- When rolling the biscuits, use flour.
- Try heating up the sausage in a microwave for 30 seconds before putting the sausage in the biscuit. This will ensure it's heated through thoroughly.
- Personalize your breakfast biscuit. Use syrup or honey, or different types of bacon or juice.
- For those living outside of North America, the term "biscuit" here is referring to a mixture similar to that used for savory scones. Substitute a savory scone mix if wished, or even frozen puff pastry.
- If you manage to get egg or something else all over the muffin hole, consider moving that biscuit to another part of the muffin tin.
- Instead of putting sausage put some smoked bacon! Then when served eat with maple syrup!
- For a different filling, try one of the following, and add your own inventive touches: Chopped pieces of cottage cheese / soft tofu / leftover thick mashed potato / leftover cooked mince /some thick green coconut-and-coriander chutney / slices of leftover boiled eggs / thick raspberry jam.
- if you so desire, instead of making the biscuit you can simply buy some.
EditWarnings
- If someone you're cooking for is allergic to sausage, egg, or cheese, or simply doesn't like the food, then add different ingredients; the filling principle remains the same.
