How to Edge a Flower Bed
Edited by Eugbug, Illneedasaviour, Jeff, BR and 3 others
This guide describes how to edge a lawn/flower bed with a knife and trowel
EditSteps
-
1Mark the edge of the bed with marking paint or a hose.Ad
-
2Cut the sod with a sharpened spade. If it is razor sharp, it makes this task a lot easier. A spade can be sharpened with an angle grinder. Alternatively you can use a sharpened dinner knife
-
3Hold the knife firmly, push it into the sod and then use a sawing motion to avoid any stones in the soil. Use the hose as a rough guide.
-
4Scoop under the sod with the trowel to remove it.
-
5Voila! You now have a neatly edged bed with a well defined curb effect! Slope the soil in the bed upwards and away from the base of the "curb". Maintenance is now easy because the bed is lower than the lawn and the grass can be trimmed with a weedeater or hedge cutters.Ad
