How to Cook Rinabus Sangop Sinapakan Linalapak

My father used to tell me that in 1950s - 1970s, health problem like heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes seldom happen because those days people eat very simple but healthy diet. inabus (boiled) Sangop (large cucumber usually planted together with hill paddy) Sinapakan (mixed) Linalapak ( unsalted dried fish). Linalapak is a very popular dried fish sold by the Bajaus from Kg Samba and Panimbawan in Tenghilan area. Dried fish is found in every open market in Sabah but the best one is sold in an open market in Tenghilan every Thursday. The dish is best eaten with rice.

- 1 sangop fruit ( yellow big cucumber)
- 3-4 Linalapak
- 3 inches ginger
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 10 or more Kemangi leaves
- 4-5 cups of water (depend)
- Salt to taste
- Vet- Tsin (optional)

1Peeled the sangop, washed and cut it half.Ad

2Get rid of the sangop seed and diced it

3Thinly slice the ginger and garlic.

4Pour the water into the wok/pot and boil.

5When the water is boiling, put the sangop, linalapak, ginger and garlic inside the wok/pot. Boil it for 2 -3 minutes until the sangop is soft.

6Put the salt, vet-tsin and Kemangi leaf.

- Make sure not to over boiled the sangop and the fish because over boiling change the texture of the fish and sangop.
