How to Undisable an iPad

The iPad has a security feature wherein if you entered your passcode incorrectly several times, the device will disable or lock for a day. You’ll have to wait 24 hours before you can try entering your passcode again—this time, hopefully, correctly. But if you don’t want to wait several hours to undisable your iPad, there is a way to gain access to your device. Just scroll down to step 1 to find out how.

1Connect your iPad to your computer. Using the USB used for charging the iPad, connect your iPad to your computer.
- The USB cord is the one you got in the package when you purchased the iPad.

2Open iTunes on your desktop. Do this by clicking the iTunes icon on your desktop or programs list.

3Click on the “iPad” button on the top right side of the window. It is beside two buttons, one of them being the “iTunes Store” button.
- In the window that opens you will see a picture of your iPad and its name. There are two buttons near: “Check for Updates” and “Restore iPad.”

4Back up your files. Click “Restore iPad” and a pop-up will appear asking if you want to back up the files in the iPad. Click on the middle “Back Up” button.

5Restore your iPad. Follow the instructions that follow after backing up your files.
- After restoring, your iPad will be good as new, with no passcode.
