How to Brew Tea in a Beer Bottle in a Microwave
Making tea in college when you aren't allowed to use a hot plate in the dorm is difficult. Sure there's the communal stove, but let's be honest, how much flak are you willing to take for brewing tea? If you're fortunate enough to have a microwave in your dorm, but not so fortunate to have Pyrex or microwavable containers, here's a quick solution.
EditSteps
-
1Choose the tea you'd like to brew.Ad
-
2Find an empty beer bottle (or glass bottle in general, so long as you can cap it in some way) and make sure it's been cleaned out.
-
3Make a choice. Here are where there are 2 options:
- You can either let the tea steep in cold water and then transfer it to the bottle
- You can just heat water in the bottle and then steep the tea in it.
-
4Find a way to cap the glass container if it can't stand up in the microwave on it's own (generally, you don't want to EVER try and heat water in a closed container, so be careful about steam and pressure).
-
5Nuke the bottle for as long as it takes to get to the desired temperature (Never let it reach a boiling point).
-
6Carefully remove the bottle from the microwave and be especially careful in removing the cap (remember, it's all probably hot).
-
7Enjoy your tea.Ad
