How to Make Mountain Dew Code Red
Edited by Nathan J., Towering Inferno, omniomi, Jtawsom1497 and 2 others
Mountain Dew: Code Red is a fruit punch variation on Mountain Dew which started as an exclusive flavor at Taco Bell, but now can be found in grocery stores by the can or the 2-liter bottle. Taco Bell has stopped carrying it, but it is actually very simple to make. Read on!
Steps
-
1Understand what Code Red is. It's nothing more than Mountain Dew with fruit punch in it. Real Code Red may not have the citrus flavors of regular Mountain Dew, which you won't be able to remove, but it will taste fine regardless.Ad
-
2Order a drink cup of any size.
-
3Start by putting just a splash of the Tropicana Fruit Punch in the bottom. This stuff is potent! Just a splash!
-
4Fill the cup with Mountain Dew.
-
5Stir with a straw.
-
6Taste. If the fruit punch flavor is overpowering, you put too much fruit punch in. If you can't really taste it (unlikely if you put any in), you need more, but just a little.Ad

Tips
- For a large cup (the 32 oz. size), you want, at most, a half-inch of fruit punch in the bottom of the cup. For smaller cups, much less.
- You can also do this at home, though due to the way soda fountains work (by mixing syrup and carbonated water) it's more effective with the fountain.
- Mountain Dew is a great base for soda fountain alchemy. Try mixing other sodas for distinct flavors.
- Some Sheetz gas stations carry real Code Red.
Things You'll Need
- A soda fountain which offers both Mountain Dew and fruit punch (e.g. Taco Bell)
- A cup
