How to Create a Countdown to a Special Event
Perhaps one of the best parts about special events is counting down the days until they happen. But if you are really into it, you can create a countdown including hours and minutes until the big day.
EditSteps
-
1Count the days on the calendar up until the event day, but don't count today or the event day.Write the number down.Ad
-
2Look to see what time it is. Write down how many minutes until the next hour. (if it is 12:45 you would have 15 minutes)
-
3Counting from the next hour (don't if you are on the hour) figure how many hours are left until midnight. (if it is 12:45 PM then there are 11 hours left.)Write the number down.
-
4If your event starts at a certain time (if it doesn't, skip this part), write down the hours past midnight that it starts. (10:00 AM = 10 hours) Add this to the number you got in step 3.
-
5Multiply the hours by 60. Add this to the number from step 2. This is the number of minutes.
-
6The number found in step 1 is your days, step 4 is your hours, and step 5 is your minutes.
-
7Voila! You have begun your countdown!Ad
EditTips
- Don't include minutes if you don't want to.
- Write down what time you updated it at each time you do, or you won't know how much to take off next time.
- Updating your countdown every hour is easier because you don't have to change the minutes, but it is optional.
- Confused? Probably. An easier way is to just check out the site under external links.
EditWarnings
- Be sure to label the numbers you write down, or prepare to confuse yourself more.
- Be careful updating it in the morning after it has been all night since you did it last.
