Decide on the time of day. Daytime at the beach can be quite hot, so choose wisely and look for shelter. At night, you can be sharing the beach with drunks and lovers, but that might be fun. Just go with what feels right and works.

Make sure the chief hen wants this. If she hates the beach, then it's a rotten plan.

Prepare for the beach. Ask all invited hens to bring along swimsuits, towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, beach umbrellas, beach furniture, comfortable things, etc.

Prepare food. What sort of food are you going to have? A picnic? A feast? Dial-in pizzas? A spit? A barbecue? And who will do the catering if the hens aren't keen?

Find things to do. You can bury hens in the sand, draw on the sand, swim, play swimming tag, skim pebbles, listen to loud music, build sandcastles, tell wild stories, and have a bonfire.

Bring alcohol. A hen's party without alcohol won't be much fun. Be careful if it's hot though; alcohol and heat mix poorly. And be sure to organize cabs and rides home well in advance of the event.

Think of fun but dreadful things to do to the chief hen to make her look silly. You know her best, so work from there.

Edit Tips

  • Have a gift stash if gifts are involved. Keep it safe from other beach goers. Usually gifts are not part of hen's nights but you never know.
