How to Care for Tetra Fish
Edited by Honest116, John Hansen, Savannah, Zareen and 6 others
Tetras are a very exotic and beautiful species to have in the home aquarium. Most tetras are peaceful and swim in schools and will never attack any other tank-mates; although some are considered 'nippy' fish such as the black widow tetra.
EditSteps
-
1Get the right size tank. A minimum of a 15 gallon aquarium is needed and a filter, heater, and decorations/plants are needed for the tetras to hide around and keep them thrivingAd
-
2Wash your decorations and add tap water to your new aquarium. Immediately pour in 1 cap full per 10 gallon. Then wash your decorations thoroughly and decorate your aquarium, add your filter and heater, set to 72 degrees Fahrenheit and wait 2-4 weeks for your aquarium to cycle (remember to add a dechlorinator and feed your growing bacteria ammonia every day - full instructions can be found here http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f15/the-almost-complete-guide-and-faq-to-fishless-cycling-148283.html)

3After 2-4 weeks, add your tetras carefully and allow them to acclimatise fully. If your tetras breed be sure you have live plants if you want the fry to survive.Ad
