wikiHow templates are categorized differently than wikiHow articles. For instructions on the correct way to categorize a template, start with Step 1 below.

    Click on the Edit tab of a template page.

    Scroll to the bottom of the page.

    Add <noinclude> prior to the title of a category and </noinclude> after the title of the category.

    • Example: <noinclude></noinclude>

    Click on Preview, at the bottom of the page, to review your changes.

    Write a note in the Edit Summary, at the bottom of the page, to clarify categorization.

    Click on Publish, at the bottom of the page, to save your changes.

  • If the noinclude tags are omitted, article pages will appear in the Template categories.
  • Omit whitespace between noinclude tags and template contents.
  • Generally, templates are only categorized in the Template categories.
  • Provide a link to a template by adding temp|, such as {{temp|Talk}}, which will appear as {{Talk}}.
