At times, a wikiHow article, its Discussion page or your Talk page may need temporary or permanent protection from high traffic or frequent vandalism. Here's how to request protection from any further edits:
EditSteps
-
1Understand that we provide constructive instruction to solve everyday problems.
- Do not promote personal opinion, sarcasm or destructive behavior.
Ad -
2Understand the two levels of protection:
- Semi-protection allows only registered users and Admins to edit.
- Full-protection allows only Admins to edit.
-
3Find an article in need of protection, such as a controversial topic.
- Review the History page for a pattern of frequent revisions.
-
4Contact an Admin or the Administrator Notice Board to request protection.
- Provide adequate reason, such as "frequent target of vandalism."
- Request unprotecting. You should select a time when you believe vandalism will have ceased. This may be anywhere from a week or up to a month thereafter.
-
5Add {{Sprotalk}} to the top of a Talk or Discussion page:Ad
If you are an anonymous user, please create an account or contact someone on their talk page. Thank you.
