Kids on the computer 24/7? Don't know how much time they should really be having on there? Read on!

Steps

  1. 1
Decide on a time limit for each child. Kids under 8 should only have half an hour, if that. Kids 8-12 suit an hour, and kids 12+ generally shouldn't need a limit, as they should just come off when asked. Once you have decided on a limit for each child, go to step 2.

  2. 2
Buy each child a kitchen timer, or a watch.
  3. 3
As soon as they turn on the computer, set the timer, or show them on the watch what time they need to get off. Explain they don't have to use it all in one go.
  4. 4
When the timer goes off, or time is up, remind the children to come off. If they don't, you should turn the computer off yourself and/or deduct some time from the next day's limit.

Tips

  • Don't make it boring and leave your child with nothing else to do.
  • Make it clear, and be consistent.
