If you have multiple email addresses, it can be insanity inducing trying to keep up with them. Quite often, they will drop by the wayside because you forget them. This article should help you simplify matters by helping you to configure your email client, like Outlook Express or Thunderbird, to do that.

  • This article will be using a Linux OS and Evolution email client

    Open your email client. Depending on your OS, this can change. In Linux, look up in the upper right hand where the envelope is, click on it and select Set Up email...

    Click on Forward/Yes/Continue, etc.. Whatever your program wants you to do. You need to progress.

    Fill in the required information. Again, this will differ from email client to email client.

    Continue until you get to the dialogue box that asks for your 'Server Type'.
    • iMAP - use if you want to leave your email at the source so that you can access it from other computers
    • pop - use if you want to download it to your computer

    Configure the Outgoing email server. This will always be SMTP. Be sure the appropriate boxes are checked.
