EditSteps
-
1Take your medication that your doctor prescribed for you and take it at the proper dosage and at the prescribed time.
-
2Put some moderate physical activity in your life. At least 30 minutes a day. It will help control mood swings.
-
3Keep a regular time each night when you go to bed. Changes in your sleeping habits can sometimes bring on a manic episode.
-
4Stay away from alcohol and caffeine. Both can change your mood, disrupt your sleep or interfere with your medications.
-
5When you feel stress building up inside of you, seek help from a counselor and find ways where you can lower stress in your daily life; such as taking planned breaks from work or other activities that bring on stress. Taking a small walk, watching an interesting TV program or enjoy a light snack; can help break up the tension in your life.
EditTips
- One tip that may help is to keep your daily schedule basically the same each day. This will help with your medications and will keep your mental state uniform and balanced. Take time for some recreation and activities that you can look forward to.
EditWarnings
- One warning: Be careful not to overdose on medication or to take meds that will interfere with your prescribed medications.
