EditSteps

  1. Promote Your wikiHow Article Without Spamming Step 1.jpg
    1
Use your userpage. The best place to promote anything you've done is on your userpage. Here you can list articles you have wrote, write about things you've accomplished, and promote your article without spamming. You can do this by adding text to your userpage encouraging edits or views, or simply leave a link available.

Add a template to the discussion page of that article. To do this, add "{{arc}}" on the article's discussion page. This will appear on the Recent Changes menu. Someone will patrol it, and may be motivated to help edit it.
  3. Promote Your wikiHow Article Without Spamming Step 3.jpg
    3
Ask someone to look over it. Check for grammar mistakes or inaccurate information (make sure you don't ask too many people.) See what they have to say.
  4. Promote Your wikiHow Article Without Spamming Step 4.jpg

Use social media, like Twitter or Facebook, to let others know about it who might be interested.
  5. Promote Your wikiHow Article Without Spamming Step 5.jpg

Talk about it in the IRC Chat room. People may be motivated to check it out (don't bring it up too much though.)

EditTips

  • Your userpage is always the best place to do this.
  • Asking an Administrator to look over your article is good.
  • Don't sweat it. wikiHow is not a popularity contest. All articles are valued highly, regardless of whether they have been viewed by one user or one million users.

EditWarnings

  • Not all articles will be popular. Be prepared to accept that.
  • Don't promote it on other people's talk page or in random places. This is considered spamming and could get you blocked.
  • If someone points out to a flaw in your article thank them kindly and do fix it. Don't get mad at the person if the flaw is something you actually like in your article. Just thank them, but say you don't want to change this at the moment.
