Meta has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. CentralNotice translation updates[edit]

So, once again, we have a totally-global central notice, with a link inviting everyone to “Help with translations!”, but when they do, the translations are ignored.

Could any admin (or whoever else with the proper permissions) publish those 17 translated banners?

I have published the translations of Wikimania2014Final banners which appears to be correct. Thanks to various users across various wikis who helped in translating and reviewing them. I request that Tony1 be blocked for a week, to cool down, following a blatant breach of the civility policy on grant discussion pages. As a member of the Grant Advisory Committee, Tony is aware of the policy and has no excuse for such gross misbehavior. I will reach out to him off-wiki as well, but we must not let this go on-wiki. I also note that the page you lik is not a Meta policy. Obviously that doesn't mean we don't expect civil and productive behavior out of Meta users, but pointing specifically to something as a policy is pretty confusing. Please don't be so quick to be shocked. Direct personal abuse following a heated argument is clear enough reason to block; my mention of "cool down" was to clarify I'm not asking for a long term block. Re policy, I believe I was quite clear I was not referring to Meta policy, but to specific policy for grant discussions in WMF's PEG program, and I have linked to where that policy is set. That policy is well understood to be binding in grant discussions, certainly by members of the GAC. A block may not be "productive" in a positive sense, but it would be productive negatively, i.e. in preventing Tony from further abuse and escalation. Two comments. First, a block is not productive in any sense. It's only going to exacerbate the discussion and would produce the opposite effect to what you claim to be seeking. Instead, having a calm word with Tony seems immensely more productive, and I have done so. I think you could have done the same rather than come here. This is bad timing, considering the on-going English Wikipedia Arbcom case resulting from the behaviour of a WMF senior manager when making a threat to desysop an unpaid volunteer. "Gross misbehavior" looks a lot like an assertion of "gross misconduct", please take care with this sort of wording. Asking for a block in advance of making the effort to talk to Tony1 about it, or leaving it for a day or two for tempers to cool off, is not the way to diffuse drama after some bad language (noting that using the F-word as an angry retort has been repeatedly rejected as a reason for a block, only a few months ago on the English Wikipedia and only last week on Commons).
Special "policies" that the GAC have made up for themselves are not community agreed policies for this wiki. If you wish committee procedures to have the authority to result in account blocks for those that fail to follow them, then I suggest you create a GAC or WMF employee controlled wiki where the GAC can dictate and enforce whatever they wish.
I suggest you ask Tony1 to redact his use of the word rather than making a big deal out of it.
By the way, Tony1 appears to not have been informed of this request, it is an expected courtesy to notify the target of requested administrative action at the same time as it is raised. --Fæ (talk) 17:46, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Translation issues[edit]

Hi, can someone please help me understand what happened here: I reverted a couple of vandal edits to Privacy policy/de a few days ago, including https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Translations:Privacy_policy/26/de&diff=prev&oldid=9273596. However, that particular change didn't immediately trigger a corresponding edit on https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy/de, so the vandalism was only effectively reverted on that page when another user vandalized another translation a day later: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Privacy_policy/de&diff=next&oldid=9273597. Request "MassMessage sender" user right[edit]

Hello. I am a long time Wikipedian, English Admin, Education and GLAM outreach person, etc. I am applying for the Mass Message right as the project manager for the The Wikipedia Library. I am responsible for communicating new partnership sign ups from our different language branches to other Wikipedia languages.
