3Read Adler. Another colleague of Freud who also broke away to form his own theory, the theory of individual psychology being one. The best place to start is with the neurotic character.

4Study B.F. Skinner. B.F.Skinner was a major figure in behaviourism and his work about behaviourism is a good place to learn about behaviourism.

5Study names like Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, and Albert Bandura.

6Learn about the different types of psychology.
- Humanist psychology was a reaction to behaviourism and psychoanalysis and formed by Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers, and Clark Moustakas, I suggest you read something by one of these three.
- Existential psychology developed along with humanism and was pioneered by Rollo May; Love and Will and The Courage to Create.
- Cognitive psychology is a discipline concerned with internal mental processes such as learning, thinking and feeling, wilhelm Wundt father of experimental psychology and the founders of the Gestalt psychology;Max Wertheimer,Kurt Koffka and Wolfgang Köhler.

- Don't put your newly found knowledge out for everyone to see, some people may not understand psychology and it can blow up in your face, better to talk psychology with people who will appreciate it.
- Some theories like those of Freud are quite disturbing like the psychosexual development stages, you may read things you don't like.
