Corn on the cob is a delicious vegetable that can be enjoyed on its own or as a side dish for foods like steak, chicken, or a variety of vegetable-based recipes. It's perfect for a picnic, barbecue, or for a summer treat. You can make corn on the cob in a variety of ways, but the most common are grilling, boiling, and roasting. Ingredients
- 2 ears corn
- 1 tbsp. sugar (for boiling method only)
- 3 tbsp. unsalted butter
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste

Method 1 of 4: Boiling

1Bring a pot of water to boil. Make sure that the pot is big enough to comfortably fit 2 ears of corn.Ad

2Husk the corn. To husk the corn, just grab it at the top of the ear where you see the silks (the dark, hair-like strands) and pull it all the way down the corn.

3Rinse the corn. Rinse it under cool water to remove any dirt.

4Add sugar to the boiling water (optional). Add one tablespoon of sugar to the water to slightly sweeten the corn.

5Place the corn in the water. Gently lower the corn into the water.

6Wait for the water to return to a boil. This should take no more than a minute.

7Cook the corn for 5-7 minutes or until it's soft. To test it, place a fork in the corn to see if it's tender while it's boiling.

8Remove the corn cobs with tongs. Place the corn on a plate.

9Serve. Cover the corn with 3 tbsp. of butter and season it with salt and pepper to taste.
Method 2 of 4: Grilling Method

2Rinse the corn cobs. Place them in a colander and run cold water over them to remove any dirt.

3Rip off a large sheet of aluminum foil. The foil should be big enough to be completely wrapped around the corn.

4Coat the sheet of foil with butter. Use a brush to cover the foil with 3 tbsp. of melted unsalted butter.

5Salt and pepper the butter. Add enough salt and pepper to the butter to suit your tastes.

6Wrap the corn in the foil.

7Grill it for 10-12 minutes.

8Serve. Add more butter, salt, or pepper, if you like.

Tips
- There are many varieties of corn available. "Sugar and cream" corn is one of the sweetest eating varieties found at the market. You may not have to add sugar, if cooking this type of bi-color corn.
- Serve with melted butter.
- When husking the corn, try to grab on the corn silk in hunks. Doing this makes removing the corn silk from the cob so much easier.
- Generously butter a hot dog bun and roll your corn on the cob in it.
