    Determine what the company format is by going to the company website (www.xyzcompany.com or perhaps www.xyzcompany.org) and looking for the Press Release section. It may be under About Us or Company Information. Look for a list of press releases or media contacts. Most press releases will list a press relations person along with their email address. Comparing their name with their email address will show you the likely format. Common formats include:

    Test your assumption by sending an email to your friend by adapting their name to the company format. You can include several email address variations in the To: field. Most email systems will send you back a “failure” message on the incorrect ones so you can identify which one got delivered.
