Also NAT is not a form of getting an IP address.

It's also very unlikely that you will get an internet connection automatically after resetting your router.

I have a Linksys and while on business trip, my husband re-booted the system. However he discnnected all of the wires and now I don't know what goes where. Tried placing in different slots but cannot get to work. Can you help?

I can't think of any instances where the router's configuration would need resetting in order to get Internet access back. It's a good article on how to reset the router, but the comments on Why you would want to reset it are completely misleading. If you don't have Internet, the most likely fix is that the router came up before the modem did, so you need to power on the modem, then the router, then release/renew (or power-on) the PC.

One reason if you got the router off of you brother and need the admin password to open a port for a video game , you will need to reset the router. because you brain frozen bro cant remember the password on the router, that's only one reason

How do you reach the reset button which is set down in the router?

better question is how do you override the modem when you forgot the admin password and the reset is not getting rid of the password.

I was able to reset and reconfigure my Linksys router. I followed the website at http://fixhomenetwork.com/blog/how-to-reset-linksys-router/

The author uses TWO different modems(routers, switches, devices) while the note title is LINKSYS ROUTERS.

On many occasions the author demonstrates actions taken towards different brand of devices id est D-LINK and LINKSYS. At the same time the author declares that the material provided is (intended) for very specific purpose - to reset linksys brand routers.

This article is a confusion with some underline goal.

Cisco/Linksys makes products which are way to difficult to configure for what the device actually does. Making a product that no one else can use does not mean that you are smarter. It only means that you make sense to yourself and nobody else.
