VideoGIF is a quick GIF maker that allows you to create an awesome animated GIF from any segment of a video on Mac with easy steps.

    Launch VideoGIF and Add Videos. Once you launched the VideoGIF, there come three options in a neat window. These options are Webcam and Add Video. You can also drag and drop the destination video to the main screen of the app.
    • Add a Video from Webcam. After clicking the Webcam icon, you will enter the Webcam mode. Click the blue circular button at the bottom on the window to take a short video instantly. When the video is done, click “Use” to get started.

    • Add a Video from Local Folder. If you want to add an existing video from the local folder, click Add Video icon.

    Trim a GIF-Worthy Clip.
    • Use the play/pause button to overview the added video and use the respective arrow buttons to step back or step forward. You have two options to select the cute, fun slice or any segment from the added video to make GIF.
    • The quick way is using the two trim controls on the progress bar bellow the video to specify the clip range. Grab one trim control to decide its start time while grab another to set its end time of the GIF.
    • Alternatively, manually move one trim control to a specific spot then click the first square bracket to set the time as the start of GIF. Then move the other trim control behind the former one and click the last square bracket to set the end time of the GIF. Use the icon between the two square brackets to preview the selected GIF clip.

    Customize Your GIF.It’s optional for you to customize your GIF. Customization will make the GIF unique and appealing.
    • Crop and Resize GIF. Click Crop at the top left to go to crop mode. You can crop the GIF using preset ratios. Or choose Custom to type specific pixels. You can even simply grab one of the green crop handles to crop the GIF. Then click Done to exit crop mode.

      Click Resize to change the size of your GIF. There are two options - one is to enter specific pixels and the other is to move the Scale slider bar to alter its size.
    • Add Text Captions to GIF. At the top of the window, you will find a functionality to add text objects to your GIF. Feel free to customize the text Font, Style, Size, Outline and Shadow, etc.

    Consider Filters and Adjust Color Settings.
    • Many professional image filters are built-in VideoGIF such as Vintage, B&W, Sepia, Marcato, etc. Apply any one you like to your GIF. Click Original to remove the effect from your GIF.
    • Besides, you have the option to change the GIF’s Saturation, Hue, Exposure, Contrast and Brightness. You are able to remove all the effects and color settings by clicking the Reset.

    Step 4 Create your GIF.
    • Click Create GIF toolbar button to generate your animated GIF and preview it in a new window. If you don’t satisfied with your GIF, change its properties while previewing it. Click the Normal tab to set the Frame Count and Frame Delay. For the Auto Mode, you can freely change the FPS (Frame per Second) of your GIF.
    • GIF Sequence can be easily set as Normal or Reverse. For the Quality options, you are free to choose the “Auto optimized” or “Not optimized”. “Auto optimized” will yield a better looking for the GIF, but takes a longer time to dither. Conversely, “Not optimized” will make a normal looking, but takes less time.
    • Once you decide the Frame Count, Duration and Size of a GIF, the parameters will be immediately displayed below the window.

    Save and Share
    • VideoGIF gives you multiple ways to export your GIF. Hit the Save… button to save your GIF to a specific folder. You can also impress your friends by sharing the GIF via Tumblr, E-Mail and iMessage directly.
