How to Network With Jist Cards
Networking is very important in this day and age of erratic careers, governments, and technology. But just having contacts is not enough when you don't know, from day to day, how 'sure' you are of anything. To make your network work for you, follow these steps to distribute your mini-resume through members of your network.
EditSteps
-
1Make yourself some JIST cards. Always have some in your desk, your portfolio, or anything that you keep with you all the time.Ad
-
2Come up with a different approach than if you were job hunting. While making these Jist cards,[1] remember that you aren't working to get a job, per se, but to be remembered.
- Concentrate on your different working skill sets, perhaps design a few for different 'occasions'.
- Create different cards for different situations, e.g. data entry, executive assistant, administrative assistant, helicopter mechanic...
- Broaden your network by having your friends and acquaintances carry them. They find themselves in the position to advocate your skills and/or knowledge.
-
3Be ready to make yourself available for any learning opportunities.Ad
