I'm trying to get a lot of work done in the in/outdoors in the next 12 months, hopefully. Retired teacher: Math, English, Business in public schools, and computer and GAT graphic arts tech. I thankfully taught 4 years as the all grades (k-12) Computer science/literacy teacher (at a Christian school) with occasional business, science and math courses there... I had my BS Degree in Printing Management (not uncommon in those days). I worked in 5 major printing companies (3 as cost estimator/production coordinators including 2 major city daily newspapers in the composing rooms where I was a union printer and held about 7 different union offices for 9 years). ------- Jack of all trades, master of none ------- '''I have approximately five minors/concentrations''' in college ~~ 32 hours of math ------- 25 hours of English ------- 24 hours of business ------- 18 college credit hours of real estate agent courses (6 courses) ------- some business courses counted toward the broker's license ------- plus 20 credit hours in graduate law school (toward doctorate of law).

Glorify God

The best way to glorify god is to be saved by grace through faith into good works. Saving-grace is not by work because some will always boast! I was awakened by dreaming: "Glorify God! Glorify God! Glorify God!" So I wrote Glorify God! on that day... I think it was prompted because I had edited Praise God the day before.

See: "Praising God!" is mostly words, but to "Glorify God" is by all our ways, not by only words. It is by things we do and how we're doing them. "Smash!", as thoughts go! I had never realized that "praise" and "glorify" are different!

Neutral POV (point of view) is not required on wikiHow, and may be hard to retain, as editors add their "take" or perceptions/conceptions (coloring, shading) or NFD, to delete it, and they may not even realize that they're biased and slanting pro or con. POV Examples:

  1. "The historic, unpainted frame house (that will be restored)..." versus
  2. "The old, drab shack--a ghostly shanty (that will be demolished)..."

Do you realize that young people have no individual, personal historical reference so they have no concept of the previously singular meaning of words that are redefined using newspeak, doublethink -- terminology in (and doublespeak derived from) the best selling fiction novel: Nineteen Eighty Four, "1984" by somewhat libertarian and socialist George Orwell which is about "big brother" (and totalitarian government) which in his book was outlawing marriage and burning books.

Maybe you know that words are sometimes redefined by being used in a new way in movies, the news, popular magazines and books, and you may wish to tell others about that process. Here are some points to explain "doublespeak" which can be the result of "doublethink." Be steady to avoid doublethink and doublespeak techniques that anyone of any philosophy could adapt, but would be deceitful and, most likely, misleading.

Steps

  1. 1
Lovingly and kindly point out to young or inexperienced persons that some perhaps "crafty, re-framing, or clever" people (notice: better to not describe people as "evil, lying, or perverse") have completely and formally redefined words by use of "doublespeak"--so that is history.
  2. 2
  3. 3
Examine how The Bible implies "do not double-speak" so communicate clearly and authentically... "Such a man is double-minded, unstable in all he does." (James 1:8)[1]
  4. 4
Define "doublespeak" - noun, Dictionary date: 1952, derived or related to the book 1984 (pub. 1949), by George Orwell; thus dou·ble·speak is language used to deceive usually through [verbal] "concealment" or "misrepresentation" of truth; see also: gobbledygook.[2]
  5. 5
Define "doublethink" - noun, Dictionary date: 1949, from to the book 1984 (pub. 1949), by George Orwell; thus dou·ble·think is language used to attempt to simultaneously believe in two contradictory ideas. -- like "live well: serve Big Brother well" (or should that be "live well: love well"?)[3]
    • This is not exactly the same as double talk. "Double talk" is saying a concept two ways--probably or possibly--to confuse people. Sometimes the speaker or writer is confused or trying to get the right answer by going at a problem from opposite or other logic.
    • Doublespeak is similar but distinct as it is redefining words to add a new meaning that was not there before. It is like sarcastic speech (or reverse logic) being redefined as standard, logical speech.
  6. 6
Realize and explain that the double-talkers can and some "do" call good, "bad" and then bad, "good!" Avoid that doublespeak which roughly means "redefining logic," or reverse logic:
    • "Hey, that's really bad!" meaning "Good!" -- or "That's good!" meaning "Bad!"
    • That kind of doublespeak was discussed by the Prophet Isaiah:[4]
      • "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;"
      • "Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;"
      • "Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20)
  7. 7
Support and work for conservative Christian virtues in government, politics or politicians that define marriage as one man and one woman, define abortion (the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus) as injustice: As it was and still is a sentence of death on hundreds of millions of innocent unborn babies used as "a birth control method" -- brought to you in its legalized form by the in/famous Roe v. Wade decision.
  8. 8
Explain to children when they are old enough to understand birth and death that no one (conservative or "liberal") would be alive if women (not "mothers") chose to have a doctor "terminate", or kill (abort), us before birth as a liberal choice. Here is another choice for liberal or conservative: "Choose you this day whom you will serve... but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15)[5]
  9. 9
Show them and explain some words besides "good/bad" that now have two opposite or dissociated meanings (doublespeak) -- examples of "doublespeak" changing word meanings include:
    • "A big lie..." repeated often enough that many people may think or say: "It's the truth!" which is a propaganda technique.
    • "Garbage collector" turned "sanitary engineer" called the cosmetics of doublespeak from wiktionary:doublespeak;
    • "Labor strike" turned into a "work stoppage." [1976, Brent D. Ruben, The Coming of the Information Age, in Information and Behavior (Brent D. Ruben, ed.), page 7]
    • Liberal once meant being "generous" or "kind" but now may also carry inverted logical frames such as "social-progressive".
    • "Gay" mainly meant "happy" and now may mean a "sexual orientation" which is a historical, subjective change of meaning in English, de facto, widely changed in meaning.
  10. 10
Be merciful, peaceful and without hypocrisy as "the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy." (James 3:17)[6]
  11. 11
Use reasonable caution with loving-kindness, and realize that some may redefine simple "opposition" to what conservatives call bad morals as "hate". So now you may be described as "hating" for opposing what you may call "disorderliness, indecency, amorality and immorality" -- and if your opposition is called hate -- then that may be called harsh rhetoric, or "hate."
  12. 12
Read this scripture: to children "A 'good tree' cannot produce 'bad fruit', and a 'rotten tree' cannot produce good fruit. A 'good tree' cannot bear 'bad fruit', nor a 'poisonous tree good fruit'." (Matthew 7:18)[7]
    • And, do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."(1 Corinthians 15:33)[8]
  13. 13
Be quick to forgive and forget -- or maybe:

Tips

  • The Vocabulary of Newspeak: The term doublespeak was coined in the early 1950s. It is often attributed to George Orwell and his 1949 "dystopian" novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. The term does not actually appear in that novel, although Orwell did coin Newspeak, Oldspeak, and Doublethink in his novel which made composite nouns fashionable with speak as the second element, a form which was previously unknown in English.Wikipedia:Doublespeak Doublespeak may be considered, in Orwell's usage, as part of "the vocabulary of Newspeak".
  • Newspeak is a language "designed to diminish the range of thought," in the novel 1984 (1949) by George Orwell, dictionary Date: 1950. Newspeak: propagandistic language marked by euphemism, circumlocution (circular thought), and the inversion of customary meanings.
  • Expressing your conservative opinions against ["liberal/progressive"] sponsored i'm/morality may be called hate speech.
  • Remember to be firm, but kind and loving in how you express you opinions -- so it is not hate filled and hopefully avoid doublespeak as a conservative (or any philosophy).

Warnings

  • Some liberal influence may be called humanism (like a religion), and many social changes are de facto results of liberalism, ie:
    • Redefining some "immorality" as "new morality" (circumstantial ethics with no absolutes) which is an example of doublespeak inversions of traditional meaning of morality.
  • A famous Christian conservative said:
    • "The new morality is the old immorality (sin)." stated by Billy Graham around 1965 and featured on the cover of a news-weekly mag.
  • Options include ignoring, giving in, folding your hands or resisting the tendencies to remake your world either pro or con. It may be remade by craftiness, new and possibly worse definitions and ways -- or reclaimed and restored by honesty, persistence and better ways, and either way there are consequences and rewards: your choice!?
