The IDF 5K Run/Walk emphasizes the need for increased physical activity to help prevent diabetes and diabetes complications. The Run/Walk was one of the main attractions at the World Diabetes Congress Dubai 2011 with close to 1000 runners, walkers & school children finishing the 5 kilometer course in Zabeel Park on 8 December. This made it the largest IDF 5K in history, surpassing all benchmarks from Cape Town 2006 and Montreal 2009.
