Objectives:
Tunisia is facing an epidemiological transition and the prevalence of diabetes is dramatically increasing. This epidemic is developing in association with obesity, which represents an important risk factor of type 2 diabetes. Indeed, childhood obesity constitutes now a major public health challenge in Tunisia and worldwide.
Therefore, we propose to implement and evaluate a school-based intervention to manage overweight and obesity among school adolescents in the region of Sousse, Tunisia. This will be a one-year behavioral intervention that will include nutritional, physical activity and psychological components.
