Nancy O. Nov 10, 2014 10:13 AM (in response to Lady Hecate)Log-in to your remote server with Dreamweaver or with any other dedicated FTP client like FileZilla. Ensure that the files you created in DW are being uploaded to the Root Directory of your remote server and not someplace else. See screenshot from DW Site> Manage Sites.
NOTE: Root Directories vary by web host. But some commonly used ones are public_html, www, html, htdocs... If unsure what your server's Root Directory is, contact your web hosting provider.

Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 10:32 AM (in response to Nancy O.)I had already called my web hosting provider to help fill out the information upon publishing my site with DW and sent in the questions, and he filled them out including my root directory with /www/mywebname. I typed in what he told me including using lowercase. I mentioned the public_html and htdocs to him and he said "no" and to send the questions asked to him and he would provided what I just provided you. In the FTP Address, he did not put any numbers but nameofwebsite.org with nothing in front. Could he be wrong with the FTP address. I did see in correspondence with him of a "local I.P. #12.34.567.8" I took note of it and jotted it down.

3. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
Nancy O. Nov 10, 2014 10:52 AM (in response to Lady Hecate)Your web hosting provider should know exactly what your FTP log-in credentials are a lot better than I do because these vary by host and account holder. My example should be used a generic example only.
The point I'm making is that your site files must be uploaded to your server's Root Directory which is evidently www/yourSiteName.
That said, what files does your remote server contain? You'll find this in your DW Files Panel (F8) under Remote Server (drop-down list) or in the EXPANDED Files Panel (see screenshot).

bregent Nov 10, 2014 11:29 AM (in response to Lady Hecate)Your screenshot not attached to your message. Please try again and provide us with the url to your site so we can see first hand what is going on. Keep in mind that a FP site structure is very complicated, with duplicate folders and vti folders that you no longer need. It might be best to wipe the remote site clean once you are sure you have the new site/structure working properly.

6. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 11:40 AM (in response to bregent)Ok let us try this again. Attached is a screen shot. My website is www.hecatescauldron.org. If I go to Yahoo and type in “Hecate” and go down and select Hecate’s Cauldron, my new home page shows up and with all my new pages. I can get around all the links. However, once again, under the name of “Hecate” , one might see “The Goddess Hecate – Hecate’s Cauldron” and you select that, the old website comes up and all linked pages are of the old website.

Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 11:55 AM (in response to bregent)My hosting company said to put www/ instead and I did. This is what I got after publishing. Screenshot attached.

8. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
bregent Nov 10, 2014 11:56 AM (in response to Lady Hecate)Right, so you just have old pages still on your site. You just need to remove them from your remote server.

9. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
bregent Nov 10, 2014 11:59 AM (in response to Lady Hecate)Still no screenshot - are you trying to attach from mail? That won't work - you need to be in the forums. In any case, I think your site is setup correctly but you still have old pages on the site. They have different filenames than your new files so they won't be overwritten when you upload the updated files. You'll have to manually delete them.

11. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 12:05 PM (in response to bregent)Oh that is the problem. I am going through my email. Regarding the names of each page, I made sure that when I re-created each page, I named each page exactly how they were created using FP. I had my old website up and as I re-created each page, I compared to the old site to make sure that it would override, or hope to.

Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 12:21 PM (in response to bregent)I did a comparison between two of the same pages.
http://www.hecatescauldron.org/The%20Goddess%20Hecate.htm old version with Front Page
http://hecatescauldron.org/The%20Goddess%20Hecate.html
new version with Dreamweaver. Notice the old version has www and the one with DM does not.

15. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
Nancy O. Nov 10, 2014 12:26 PM (in response to Lady Hecate)When I go to hecatescauldron.org I am able to see your web site. I'm wondering if you are seeing a cached (memory) version in your browser. Try clearing your browser's cache or use a different browser to check your site.

16. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 12:37 PM (in response to Nancy O.)I did that already in checking with Google as well as with Yahoo. I did some research and all of my old files have http://www.hecatescauldron.org My new files merely are listed as http://hecatescauldron.org This is the huge difference. I went back to site/management and tried using the www alternative and that did not work.

Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 12:40 PM (in response to Nancy O.)My web host is going to remove all files with “www” in them to get rid of this mess so that I will have an empty directory and I can publish everything over again.

18. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
bregent Nov 10, 2014 2:08 PM (in response to Lady Hecate)No. The filenames are different. The old version is htm - the new version is html.

bregent Nov 10, 2014 2:12 PM (in response to Lady Hecate)My web host is going to remove all files with “www” in them
OK, if that's what they say
Files don't have 'www' in them and from what I see, the site displays the same whether or not you preceed it with 'www'. I think most of your problem is that you have some files with 'htm' extension and some with 'html' which is causing some confusion. You need to be consistent with your naming convention.

20. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
Lady Hecate Nov 10, 2014 4:56 PM (in response to bregent)Oh my. That must be FP’s doing because if I filled it in, I would have used html. Dreamweaver filled in the html when a page was created, as I certainly did not but let DW do its thing. I guess FP must have done the same but used htm.

22. Re: Went from FP to Dreamweaver CS6
Lady Hecate Nov 11, 2014 8:25 AM (in response to bregent)Thanks...that is exactly what I did to popular pages where people visit. went in Dreamweaver, pulled the page up, save as and then saved it word for word all the way down to the htm. Any links in that page were then linked to my new pages with html endings. I was being so careful re-creating the pages with the same title and had my old website via browser up and compared. But I never noticed the htm at the end. I was too focused on one part and not. At least it was figured out so that I could fix it.
Many thanks.
