How to Participate in a wikiHow Secret Santa
If you're a wikiHowian, a great way to participate in the community other than by editing and writing articles is to participate in the annual Secret Santa. They happen around the holiday season, and if you've ever wanted to participate in one, look no further.

1Watch for a thread in the wikiHow forums about the year's Secret Santa. Krystle will announce it in the Village Pump section.Ad

2Read the rules of the Secret Santa. You have to be at least 18 years old to participate, and the maximum price for a gift is $10.00.

3Fill out the form provided in the thread within the time frame that sign-ups are open. You'll be asked for, among other things, your username, e-mail address, mailing address, if you want to share your username with the user you're exchanging gifts with, whether you're willing to give your mailing address to the user you get, whether you can ship a gift so that it arrives by December 25, and any other information you want the user you'll be exchanging gifts with to know.

4Purchase or make a gift. Be sure to put some thought into it, and that it's not something that's generic. Also be sure that it's appropriate and practical. If the username of the user you get is revealed and you know them well, be sure to keep their interests in mind when getting them a gift.

5Wrap the gift. Be sure that it's wrapped neatly and that you take your time in doing it well.

6Get a box of the size that your gift is of and prepare the package. Make sure you label it with the address that was sent to you in the e-mail.

7Go to a post office and ship the package. You'll have to pay for shipping, so be sure you have the money for it.

8Wait until the gift from your Secret Santa user arrives. If all goes well, you'll have the gift on or before December 25.Ad

- Be sure that you're willing to give your mailing address out before participating. You may not be comfortable with giving out your mailing address to strangers.
- If you have any questions, you can ask them in the forum thread announcing the Secret Santa or contact Krystle at [email protected].
- Be sure that you have time in your Christmas shopping and other Christmas preparations to do this. Buying Christmas presents for your family and friends can take time! Don't wait until the last minute to make or buy a gift, either. You definitely don't want to be stressed over this; after all, it's supposed to be fun!
- Make sure that you're absolutely sure that you can participate before doing so. Other unexpected things can come up that can stop you from participating.
- If you want, go to the wikiHow forums and make a thread about your gift when it arrives. Be sure to mention the username of the user who you exchanged gifts with if it was given to you (otherwise, just mention where they're from).
