  2. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 2.jpg
    2
Open the hue/saturation adjustment. This can be done in one of two ways. The first option is to go to image>adjustments>hue/saturation (type in the shortcut Ctrl+U or Command+U). Alternatively, you can just click on the "create adjustment layer" icon. For current purposes, the second option is ideal.
  3. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 3.jpg
    3
Click on the “create adjustment layer” icon.
  4. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 4.jpg
    4
Wait for the adjustment window and layer to appear. This may take a couple of seconds.
  5. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 5.jpg
    5
Drag the window towards your image. Drag the window by clicking and holding it as you move your mouse.
  6. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 6.jpg
    6
Move the hue slider left or right. The adjustment layer should be beside your image file. By moving the hue slider, you will be able to see the gradual change of colors on your image.
  7. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 7.jpg
    7
Experiment with the saturation slider. Drag the slider to the left for a lesser amount of color on the picture or for a duller gray image.
  8. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 8.jpg
    8
Drag the slider to the right for more vibrant colors on the image.
  9. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 9.jpg
    9
Experiment with the lightness slider. Drag the slider to the left for a darker image; lightness adjusts the amount of black/white (in this case more black) on the image.
  10. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 10.jpg
    10
Drag the lightness slider to the right for a lighter image.
  11. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 11.jpg

Click “Colorize” on the Hue/Saturation adjustments window. Then play with the hue slider to look for the color you want to apply on your image.
  12. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 12.jpg
    12
Using the brush tool, paint over your image to reveal some of the original colors of the image. Paint over your image by unlinking and selecting the layer mask on your adjustment layer. Make sure also that the color you're using is black as you paint over the image and on the layer mask.
  13. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 13.jpg
    13
You’re done! You have learned the basics of how to adjust hues on an image using Photoshop.
  14. Adjust Hues in Adobe Photoshop CS4 Step 14.jpg
    14
    Finished.
