-
1Try to eat only complex carbohydrates. Most of your carbohydrates should come from fruits and vegetables. You should eat a moderate amount of grains but focus on foods made from whole grains, instead of foods made from white flour or sugar. For example, eat brown rice, the whole rice grain unprocessed, instead of eating white bread which comes from processed, bleached flour. These kinds of complex carbs will keep your sugar levels balanced, which is what you need.Ad

2Try to eat the leanest cuts of meat you can, or avoid meat altogether and go vegetarian or pescaterian (fish or other seafood as the only meat). Foods rich in tyrosine can be very helpful for those with thyroid conditions. Lean tyrosine proteins include: quinoa, nut butters, whole grain oatmeal, black beans, fish, white meat chicken, sunflower seeds.

3Avoid processed and packaged foods. It is easier to control what you eat if you know exactly what goes into it. The only way to do this is to eat whole foods and prepare them yourself. Cooking is fun and easy. You don't have to make elaborate recipes to get good results.
-
4It is important to keep hydrated, so drink water throughout the day. However, there is a potential link between fluoride and thyroid conditions so try to drink bottled or filtered water when possible (tap water usually has fluoride).
-
5Take a multivitamin daily in order to ensure you are getting all your daily nutrients. If it’s determined you have an iron deficiency, it can make your thyroid problem worse. Supplements for both iron and iodine may be needed. Iodine can help stabilize your thyroid but too much of it can do the opposite so get medical help determining what supplements to take.

6The best policy as far as eating meals is to have several small meals throughout the day so as to keep your levels stable. Ideally 5 or 6 small meals a day.
