How to Make Sure Your Garbage Bag Fits Your Can
Your trash bag is once again slipping into the trash can. You close your nose and your hand makes the plunge, again... This guide will make sure your trash bag will have a custom fit!
EditSteps
-
1Look at your trash can for its measurements. The gallon size should be on the bottom or the side of the container.Ad
-
2Determine the bag width.
- For a square Type of Trash Can measure your container's circumference and divide it by two. This number is the bag width you need.
- For round trash cans: Measure the diameter and multiply by 3.14. This is your bag width.
-
3Measure the height of your trash can and add 3–4 inches (7.6–10.2 cm) for overhang.
-
4Now take your newly found information of your bag width and bag length and enter the measurement on Google for example: "33x40 trash bags" and you will find exactly what you need!Ad

EditWarnings
- Some manufacturers will name their trash cans with a Gallon size that will not match the standard bag in that gallon size. i.e. The 32 Gallon Toter can on wheels needs a 55 Gallon bag! Measure your can well or use a True Fit calculator- [1]- for best results.
- After measuring, remember that the determined size IS NOT your only option and you may need to do some rounding up or down to get your perfect bag. Why? There are certain sizes (such as 33"x40") that are only available in a High Density (thinner material) but by rounding down an inch or two (and opting for a 33"x39" bag) you will get you a thicker, Low Density bag. So, be an educated consumer and explore all options.
