EditSteps
-
1Put down carpet: Get some carpet, old or new, and lay it out in your garage. You don't have to professionally have it put in, just lay it over the concrete.
-
2Furniture: Get a old couch from a thrift store for cheap can be a nice piece for the room. A few chairs and a table can help for playing cards or other games.
-
3Finishing touches: Rugs, pictures, paintings, and lights will help people want to be in the garage and hang out.
EditTips
- Don't use light colored carpeting or furniture, because using a garage as a room usually will make it a room to hang out in and use less caution while eating or drinking (as in don't try as hard not to spill.) That is my experience, anyways.
- Art in the room should be more things that look cool, not pretty. If that makes sense.
- Big Florescent lights work better than lights you would use in your house.
- Make it more about your personality than a regular room in the house. Like, if your husband or teens like hot wheels, build shelves and put them on there to show them off.
- The more off the furniture is, the more comfortable it is to hang out in with friends. A yellowish blue couch with green chairs is just fine! Most of the time, a garage is a comfortable place to hang out with your friends in a place the reflects your personality. Don't go to a nice furniture store and pick out a modern couch and end table. Go garbage picking.
