Sports are a fun thing to do but if you feel that you are no longer having fun then stop. If you don't know it's not fun then follow the article steps.

1Know the signs. Do you look forward to going to practice? Do you never practice on your own? Do you think of excuses to miss practice? If you enjoy practice, than do competitions give you anxiety? Think about what aspects of your sport bother you.Ad

2If you are playing a sport, reflect on whether you are trying to get out of the work it takes to practice or just have no interest in that sport (but wouldn't mind working at something different).
-
3If you are young - understand that you need to tell your parents if you realize that your sport is no longer what you want to do, because they may paying a lot of money and spending a lot of time for you to play. You may be afraid that your parents will not understand, and it is possible that they will be upset with you if they believe that your sport is good for you. Compromise - if soccer's not your thing, but your parents believe the exercise is good for you, then perhaps getting a gym membership and setting specific times each week to go and exercise will satisfy them.
-
4Try to understand the challenges you have with your sport. Little things can make you just not want to play sports, like the threat of injuries, mean coaches, a low-performing team, mean teammates, etc. Sometimes these "little things" are enough to discourage people, especially younger people, away from a sport forever. However, if there is the option to continue the sport elsewhere without the challenges, it is worth consideration.

5Do not be afraid to tell your coach/teammates/instructor that you do not wish to continue with the sport. It is your decision, and no one should ridicule you if you decide to leave your sport.Ad
