How to Tighten a Drum Performance in Pro Tools using Beat Detective
You've just recorded a magic drum performance, or have comped together a master drum take from many takes, but the performance could still use some tightening up before you start overdubbing other instruments. Never fear, with a little effort you can create tighten up any drum performance.

1Save a new version of the session file by going File > Save Session As.... Let's say your session file is called "Take Me Away v01.6", it would become v01.7.

2Select your master comp playlist take, and Duplicate... the playlist.

3Add to each track "-Comp.BD". For example, the kick drum track would be named "Drm.Kick-Comp.BD", and the rack tom track would be called "Drm.Tom 1 Rack-Comp.BD".

4Select the first section of drums. This could be just 8 bars of a 16 bar verse, or the whole verse for example.

5Separate region.
- 1ms Trigger Pad

- Exclude Within: 10%
- Crossfade Length: 3ms
